BEING GRATEFUL

Thank you, 2022 !! Well, 2022 is coming to an end. So what changed this year? May not be anything extraordinary. But the year 2022 was definitely special. The world has been battered by the pandemic for almost the past 3 years. What started in 2019 seemed like a never-ending war. With millions of lives lost, life, as we know it, has changed. But with that being said, 2022 sort of gave back what we lost. After a long time, people saw each other smile. And I mean actual (mask-free) smiles. I even saw many people's faces for the first time, whom I had known for the past 2 years. But above all, the dreaded pandemic sort of came to an end (not fully, though). People longing to return home from far places, reunited with their families after a long time. Thousands of graduates across the world who waited long had their chance with the cap and gown. All modes of transport via air, land, and water have resumed their old self. The forgotten spirit of festivals returned with a bang. Families got together, more joy was spread. The lost celebrations popped back in. Basically, life as we know it came back to us.

Having something is fine, but losing it is not good; it makes us feel terrible. But when we get that lost thing back, that adds more value to it and, most importantly, makes us realize the worth of something that we had taken for granted for a long time. I guess that's what 2022 gave us. Hence, it is very special. It didn't give anything new. I just gave back our precious lives as we knew them before. That is something to be grateful for, forever. It is also a reminder to appreciate all those little things which actually make life colourful.

Happy New year everyone!! :-)
